Reflection

When I started researching this topic for a school project, I only had a little information on the topic. We briefly went over it in history class, and it sounded like no big deal. This is because it happened at the same time of the Holocaust. In comparison, the Rape of Nanking was very small to the genocide of the Jews. I learned about the horrible things those Japanese soldiers did to the citizens of Nanking. The genocide period started December 13^th and last 6 weeks. The Nanking massacre is called genocide by some, and not by others. It is debatable. China and Japan went through a lot because of Japan’s unnatural warfare strategies, but they only did it for the good of their country. Japan needed resources but went crazy on Nanking, thinking that it was the only way to capture China. The death toll was over 100,000 estimated and 20,000 women were raped at the Rape of Nanking.
